Hello, and let me welcome you to Wednesday, August 19th, 2020. Now that it is crystal clear to me that it is WEDNESDAY and not Thursday, I can give you a better picture.

I realized that it was Wednesday as I was completing my daily sudoku puzzle challenge. Perhaps you have played sudoku in the past and know what it is all about. There are nine columns, nine rows and each of the nine 3 x 3 sections that contain ALL of the numbers from 1-9. I will provide a picture at a later point.

I used to go from grid to grid across the right hand side of each column. This is a very slow technique, but it does typically work out in the end. And then my fiancée told me how to “turn it up a notch.” You can look across the entire grid and concentrate on the columns that already have several numbers. Through the process of elimination you can narrow down the possible numbers.

When your eyes look at THE ENTIRE puzzle, as opposed to the individual grids, you can see the larger picture. I try to get my eyes to focus on the larger picture while writing in numbers. Then I hone in on the individual grids. I never realized how difficult this actually was for my eyes 👀 until I tried. My eyes 👀 want to focus in on the smaller grids, but I get them to look up, down, and around.

It isn’t always easy but I have been able to complete my sudoku puzzles 🧩 in much less time. I get a feeling of accomplishment 💪 when I finish and it makes me feel good about myself.

I hope all of you are doing well and staying safe. Have a wonderful rest of your week!
