Hello, and welcome to a “Thankful Thursday!” The year is almost over and I hope it was a good one for all of you. It was full of a lot of changes for me, and, good or bad, they were still changes. Our brains love repitition and consistancy. This is not always feasible, and we need to adapt to this. It most likely will not happen in one day, but it can and will eventually become second nature. I will give you my example of my coffee pot progress.

When I came here in June, I was already going through many changes.  I had to get an address change, forward my mail, and contact Social Security to let them know about my changes.  If you have ever had to deal with Social Security, you know that it is not the easiest thing in the world to do.  We made appointments and went to the office.  It was difficult, as well as time-consuming.  But, like my grandpa always says, “The squeeky wheel gets the oil.”

Now, if you recall, we were talking about the coffee pot.  This pot has a time-delay brew option.  I had never had a coffee pot with this option, so I just did what I was always used to doing, which was making the coffee in the morning.  I was used to this and comfortable doing it this way.  However, if you are an insane coffee drinker like me, this prep time in the morning is almost painful.  I was determinded to get it ready to drink when I got up in the monrning.  I have to empty out the filter and put in 6 scoops (your scoop amount by vary, but it is easier for me to remember if I just stick with 6).  Then I fill up the coffee pot with water and place the water in the pot.  Then I set the timer for 8:30am, and, like magic, it is ready for me to enjoy the next morning.  Easy, right?  Most of the time it is.  I have forgotten to put the water in the machine and neglected to put coffee in the filter.  But, it all works out in the end.  Maybe not exactly the way I planned, but I eventually have coffee.  It takes time and practice, but it all works out in the end.  If at first you don’t succeed, you know the rest!  God bless you and think about all you are thankful for on this Thankful Thursday!
