Brain Injury Blog Post for Thursday, October 12th.

Hello, and happy Thursday to all of you.  Here is my Gratitude List for today!

  • I am thankful to be alive
  • I am thankful to be able to walk
  • I am thankful to be able to talk
  • I am thankful that I can write
  • I am thankful that I can read
  • I am thankful for the health and happiness of my family and friends

I started to play a  rather unique solitaire game on this laptop.  I will do my best to describe it to you.  The concepts of solitare are still the same, but the cards are spread all over the computer screen in different patterns and layers.  This requires me to use all of my full range of vision.  Since my TBI, my eyes seem to want to simply look straight ahead.  This is problematic when it comes to driving.  I took multiple vision tests in inpatient and outpatient therapy.  Towards the very beginning of my injury, I visited a opthomologies.  It became apparent quite quickly that the regular tests would not work, as I could not recall the alphabet.  We used different tests and I eventually “got it,” but I still need to practice with my range of vision.  Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and the word jumbles are terrific exercises for my brain AND my eyes.

I hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to hearing from you!  Have a wonderful day!
